The Fort Mims historic site offers an amazing educational experience about its significant role in the history of Alabama and our nation. The site commemorates the lives of those lost 200 years ago during the Creek Indian war. The annual commemoration and living history weekend is held the last weekend in August. This event is a look at the daily life of early settlers and how their lives intermingled with the Creek Indians during the early 1800's, long before Alabama became a state.
