ORIGINAL INFORMATION: September 19-27, 2020 is National Coastweeks. Saturday the 19th is the kick off of the week-long cleanup with the International Coastal Cleanup (Alabama's 33rd Annual). Coastweeks is an educational initiative to encourage marine & water conservation and help “Get the Trash Out of the Splash!”
To become involved with the 33rd Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup, please visit www.AlabamaCoastalCleanup.com for a zone nearest you or call 251-928-9792. The Coastal Cleanup event is held annually on the third Saturday of September. Coastal Cleanup takes place from 8 am to 12 pm.
Volunteers pick up what they find and record the data which is submitted to The Ocean Conservancy to track what is getting into our oceans. The information is used for education on sources of debris and its effect on the environment. During the past 33 years volunteers removed millions of pounds of marine debris from Alabama’s valued coastline and waterways. Join us this year as we continue to make Alabama the Beautiful! Supplies are limited. Come prepared with sunscreen, a hat, gloves, shoes and lots of water. It gets HOT!
There are other events that take place throughout Coastweeks. Click here for the direct link to those events & more details!
