The good times are ready to roll for the second year at OWA as Mardi Gras returns in spectacular fashion on Joe Cain Day: Sunday, Feb. 23, 2020. The Gulf Coast’s largest entertainment destination is collaborating with local parading organization, Krewe du Cirque, for the second year in a row to bring locals and visitors an epic celebration, including parades, parties, music and fun.
The day’s free festivities kick off with local band Roman Street hosting a concert at OWA’s main entrance, starting at 3:30pm. Immediately following the concert at 6pm, the grand parade rolls through the streets of Downtown OWA, complete with ornate floats, tons of throws, and a second line (a walking parade) to finish it up. Guests are encouraged to hop off the sidewalks and join Krewe du Cirque and other parade-goers as the second line parties its way through the streets.
The party doesn’t end there - stick around after the walking parade for a second free concert on OWA’s island featuring the B-Street Benny. Throughout the entire day and well into the night, Downtown OWA will feature Mardi Gras-inspired performers, food and drink specials, plus so much more during the entire fun-filled day.
Can’t wait that long to celebrate? Head to OWA on Saturdays and Sundays in February for some pre-Mardi Gras fun! At 2 pm and 3:30 pm each weekend, the Southwinds Drum and Bugle Corps will be marching through the streets of Downtown OWA with a second line. Come on out, hop on in, and get in the Mardi Gras spirit as OWA gears up for a Joe Cain Day celebration.
OWA’s entire Mardi Gras parade, party and celebration is free to attend and open to the public. The festivities will be family-friendly and last throughout the day. For more information on times, locations, schedules and performers, go to www.VisitOWA.com/MardiGras.
