2024 Winter Showcase Series: A Silent Sentinel: Fort Morgan After the Civil War

As part of the 2024 Winter Showcase Series presented by Gulf Shores & Orange Beach Tourism, please join us for this presentation from Ian McConnell. 

The presentation will cover the history of Fort Morgan after the Battle of Mobile Bay. Major topics include the Endicott system reforms of the fort, its use as a training base in WWI, and its existence as a coastal defense battery in WWII. Though Fort Morgan’s battles were behind it, it continued to guard Mobile Bay into the Twentieth Century.
