What was once the site of Mobile’s first jail, now stands the "Gateway to Mobile’s History." This Federal-style home reflects Mobile’s history under five flags with a French sitting room and bedroom, a British Commandant’s room, a Spanish courtyard garden, an American Federal dining room, two American bedrooms and two antebellum parlors. The museum is owned, preserved and operated by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Alabama. It is on the National Register of Historic Places.
