For the month of October, Flora-Bama, the iconic 50-year-old roadhouse located at the state line is supporting the Krewe du Ya Ya’s Keeping Abreast Foundation with $1 donation for each entrée of Pink Fish Tacos or Pink Nachos sold at Flora-Bama Yacht Club and Flora-Bama Ole River Grill “to inspire hope and enhance life for those affected by breast cancer” in our community.
Sunday, October 10th, a complimentary buffet of German food and beer kicks off an Oktoberfest themed “Customer Appreciation” party at 4pm. Featured will be the high energy polka band, The Brats, along with a Samuel Adam’s stein hoisting contest at 5pm. Free steins to all participants with all encouraged to break out their best lederhosen and dirndls for this annual event.
Saturday, October 23rd features WKRG’s annual poker run for the American Heart Association. Bikers begin their ride at the Harley-Davidson shops in Mobile and Pensacola at 11am and culminates with awards and free food at the Flora-Bama for participants with live music starting at noon.
Sunday, October 24th, the Flora-Bama’s Inaugural “Boozy Bee” spelling bee to be held 7p-8p. Registration is online at www.florabama.com and ends October 18th. Check in time to the 10 contestants chosen and pre-contest party in the Dome 6p-7p. Free drink to all contestants with music by Wes Loper.
Sunday, October 31st, Halloween festivities begin with a “Boo Fest” for young ghosts and goblins at the Flora-Bama’s Yacht Club and Ole River Grill 3p-6p. Arts and crafts by Sand Castle University, sweet treats, and games provided for patrons. Following that evening, the main Flora-Bama’s traditional costume contest with over $2000 in cash and prizes concludes the month’s activities at 9pm on the Tent Stage. Registration begins at 6pm. Live music by Smokey Otis Trio and Yeah, Probably.
