Loved by locals and vacationers alike, DeSoto’s Seafood Kitchen has been serving the Alabama Gulf Coast for more than 20 years. Their customers give excellent reviews on so many of their seafood specialties, but one menu item is always a favorite — and for good reason!
The coconut shrimp at DeSoto’s is made with a house-made batter, and this special recipe keeps people returning from all over the country each season. In fact, it is so good it has earned a spot on the “100 Dishes To Eat in Alabama” list by the Alabama Tourism Department.
“One hundred percent of this recipe is made in-house, from the batter seasoning to the dip,” says co-owner, Rosemary Steele.

Updates at DeSoto's
The area was grateful to have DeSoto’s Seafood Kitchen fully reopened after the wrath of Hurricane Sally, which devastated the Alabama Gulf Coast in late 2020 — including significant damage to Desoto’s that required them to close their doors for a few weeks during repairs and renovations.

After a lot of hard work, DeSoto’s was able to reopen and has since even added a few new perks.
After completely renovating the interior of the restaurant, DeSoto’s now offers an online waitlist for their peak hours. This has become such a wonderful bonus for customers planning to dine during busy vacation seasons. You simply add your name to the waitlist (https://bit.ly/3w7ODtz) before arriving, and you will receive a notification when your table is ready. It’s that simple!
