After a good summer fling, it’s time to fall in love…with the Alabama Gulf Coast of course! Summer may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. Here, cooler weather means breezy trips to the shore, shorter wait times at all your favorite local hubs, and plenty of autumn activities that’ll have you screaming fall-elujah!
Sunny and 55-65
When traveling to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, we know one of your must-see stops are our beautiful beaches! We can’t say we blame you. Relaxing in the sugar-white sands, listening to the waves as they roll in and crash on the shore, ahh–sounds like paradise to us! For those of you seeking to spend your lazy seaside days in cooler weather, fall is the perfect time to book your vacation!
Besides, the beach isn’t the only place to play, go exploring with your family through Historic Fort Morgan or visit the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park and to learn about the “Mighty A.” If you’re reel-y ready to find your perfect catch, map out your charter fishing trip with Caribe Marina and Watersports. Or tee off for a round of golf during what we feel is the best time of year to play. Local courses like Craft Farms' Cotton Creek and Cypress Bend are convenient to top
Trick-or-Treat Yourself
As we all know, fall is the best time to stock up on sweet treats. As October rolls around and candy begins to fill grocery store shelves, we encourage you to indulge in some of our local sugar shops. Kilwins, located in The Wharf, is a fan-favorite for fudge and some of the finest confections on the coast! Looking for the perfect way to top off your autumn vacay? Visit Cherry on Top for dreamy sundaes, creamy milkshakes, and ice cream cones for days. Still do-nut know how to satisfy those sugar cravings? City Donut, Orange Beach’s oldest donut shop, will give you a dozen reasons to indulge!
Autumn Fun
If you’re looking for laid back events, there’s plenty of fall-favorites and good times to be had here! To kick-off the festivities, get ready for Flora-Bama’s “Bulls on the Beach” in September. Come saddle up, shine your belt buckle, and slip into your har-vest as you join in on one of the Alabama Gulf Coast’s most beloved events. On the same weekend you can join in (or just cheer) the Brett Robinson Alabama Coastal Triathlon. The month ends with the Annual John L. Borom Alabama Coastal BirdFest and Fort Morgan Bird Banding. (Bird banding continues into October.)
When October rolls around, keep the coastal fun going with Orange Beach Freedom Fest, and the granddaddy of all coastal festivals, The Annual National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores.
November doesn’t slow down. Start the month at Experience the Oyster, presented by Murder Point Oysters. Tune in for 11 days and nights of entertainment at the Annual Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival, held across multiple locations. The Coastal Alabama Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival rolls into Gulf Place for good times with awesome views. And the month wraps up with the post-turkey day Coastal Half Marathon and 5K Run.
Don’t take our word for it–fall on the Alabama Gulf Coast is truly something everyone must experience for themselves. Come carve out a bit of vacation time and trade in your beach bikini for a little sweater weather! Find more events here.
