Billy's started around 20 years ago in Denver, Colorado, with the intent of creating "adult" versions of hot dogs with a variety of options based on locality. Owner Bill Reid said he discovered the Orange Beach and Gulf Shores area about four years ago and was impressed with what he saw. While walking through Fairhope wearing his Billy's shirt, he ran into someone who knew the business. Seeing how people here recognized the brand, he started hunting for locations in Baldwin County, eventually setting up shop in Orange Beach.
Located at 3 Market St., Billy's serves a wide variety of hot dogs, using Vienna beef hot dogs as the base for the dishes. Hot dogs include the Seattle dog and the Texas Tommy dog, along with Billy's signature Chicago dog, topped with mustard, relish, onion pickle, tomato, sport peppers and celery salt. They also serve house-made sausages, including andouille, kielbasa and a beer bratwurst based on a recipe from Reid's grandfather. The menu includes two sausages: the bison bratwurst and the elk bratwurst, both containing jalapeno and cheddar cheese inside.
