Loved by locals and vacationers alike, DeSoto’s Seafood Kitchen has been serving the Alabama Gulf Coast for more than 25 years. Customers give excellent reviews on so many of the seafood specialties, but one menu item is always a favorite—and for good reason!
The coconut shrimp at DeSoto’s is made with a house-made batter, and this special recipe keeps people returning from all over the country each season. In fact, it is so good it has earned a spot on the “100 Dishes To Eat in Alabama” list compiled by the Alabama Tourism Department.
“One hundred percent of this recipe is made in-house, from the batter seasoning to the dip,” said co-owner Rosemary Steele.
Not a coconut shrimp fan? Other menu items favored by customers include the pecan-encrusted fresh catch and blackened or grilled triggerfish. The shrimp and pasta marsala is another menu favorite.
Choosing one side for any entree is always a difficult decision because there are so many appealing options. Fan favorites are the fried green tomatoes, sweet potato casserole, and the steamed veggies or corn fritters.
