“Did ya’ll save room for dessert?” This is what waitresses across the Alabama Coast drawl at the end of every meal. And if you’re scared you won’t have the self control to leave room, go ahead, order dessert first. We won’t tell.
10. Pecan Pie Cheesecake – Derailed Diner, Wilcox Exit on I-10 close to Robertsdale
Get your caboose to the Derailed Diner and give the Pecan Pie Cheesecake a try on your next trip down to the Alabama Gulf Coast. We didn't think you could improve on cheesecake or pecan pie, but together they are a perfect collision of sweet deliciousness.
9. Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding – LuLu’s, Gulf Shores
Why use bread when you can use doughnuts? But seriously, it has the words Krispy Kreme and Bread Pudding used together in the name. Do we really have to elaborate?
8. Fairhope Float – Gene’s Beans, Fairhope
If you’re a coffee addict drinker or ice cream connoisseur, this old fashioned float could not be more pleasing to your palate. Step into this Fairhope ice-cream shop where they serve iced mocha coffee with a big swirl of vanilla yogurt in the middle, dolloped with whipped cream and the sprinkles of your choice (when in doubt, choose chocolate).

7. Anything – Rum Sisters, Gulf Shores
A single bite of any of these decadent cakes elicits heavenward gazes and sighs of delight. There’s no way this much richness is legal, but this is one of those if this is wrong, I don’t want to be right sort of desserts. We’re going to level with you. We’ve never had a Rum Sisters cake we didn’t want to devour in its entirety. Take the bushwacker cake, for example. Similar to its namesake cocktail, this rich treat is infused with coconut and chocolate, and believe us when we say that you won’t be able to stop with just one slice.
6. Bushwacker – Pirates Cove, Elberta
Ok, technically not a dessert, but you top your next meal off with just one sip of this thick, Kahlua-filled chocolate shake (topped with a bit of Bacardi 151 if you choose), and you’ll be one happy camper. Although you may think that said 151 is to blame for anyone’s love of this dessert, even sans this powerful spirit, a Bushwacker truly is the perfect sweet cure for a hot, summer day.

5. Fried Cheesecake – King Neptune’s, Gulf Shores
What’s better than cheesecake? Fried cheesecake. We could probably stop there, but since King Neptune’s keeps going, so will we. They deep fry each decadent slice of cheesecake lavishly coated in cornflakes, then drizzled with a peacn praline sauce that is surely the nectar of the gods.
4. Key Lime Shake – Stacey’s Rexall Drugs & Old Tyme Soda Fountain, Foley
This shake is where tartness and sweetness have a love affair of perfect proportions. Not everyone can transition a dessert into a shake flawlessly, but the folks at Stacey’s Drug Store serve a sip of ice cold sweetness that rivals any key lime pie mama ever made.
3. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Pie –Original Oyster House, Gulf Shores
You know what happens when you combine chocolate chips, whipped topping, peanut butter, and Kahlua and throw it all in an Oreo cookie crust? Magic – that’s what. Original Oyster House is serving up this cool (literally) pie to anyone who didn’t stuff themselves with one too many baked oysters during the entree portion of their meal (and some who did).
