Louisiana is the Alabama Gulf Coast’s culinary sister to the west, so it makes sense that Cajun and Creole flavors have infiltrated menus throughout Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. These are three of our favorite places to find flavor-packed dishes with a Louisiana flair!
Acme Oyster House
Crawfish, oysters, shrimp, fish, andouille...Acme Oyster House, which overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway in Gulf Shores, has a menu that practically screams Louisiana, as any restaurant that got its start in early 1900s New Orleans should. From over-sized seafood platters to a cup of expertly prepared gumbo, you’re sure to leave happy no matter how big or small your appetite.
Louisiana Lagniappe
Another waterfront delight, Louisiana Lagniappe in SanRoc Cay, offers diners French Quarter-worthy fare. Etouffee, jambalaya, Grouper Louisianne or Pontchartrain, and Crescent City Fettuccine are true Cajun palate pleasers, but be sure to leave room for dessert. We recommend the dreamily indulgent bread pudding with warm bourbon sauce!
Rouse’s Market
This grocery store not only boasts an ideal location in Gulf Shores (the intersection of Highways 59 & 180), it also offers specialty Cajun cuisine including grab-and-go meats, Louisiana-made freezer and pantry products, as well as seasonal items like cream cheese-filled king cakes during Mardi Gras! And now with a second location in Orange Beach, you'll always be close to some delicious creole options.
