The City of Gulf Shores has announced the lineup for their Music at Meyer Park concert series. These annual springtime concerts have become a fan favorite for locals and visitors alike.
On March 31, David Jones takes the stage to kick off Music at Meyer Park. Jones emerged from the gulf coast with a fresh approach to the jazz world. Classified as “soul jazz” the sharp trumpet work, backed by a cool rhythm section combined with smooth vocals results in a high energy show. After 30 years out of the music writing business he sat down at the piano and wrote 8 of the 10 songs on his debut CD “Beautiful Music.” Jones is ready for the next step in his career touring larger shows and venues across the county.
Mobile-based rockabilly country band Modern Eldorados takes over Meyer Park on April 7. This live show is more than just a concert, it’s a musical experience! Their CD “The Rockmart Demos” has been gaining airplay in both America and Europe. The band was also featured on a PBS live concert series “Studio Amped.” The band includes Tyron “Gretsch” Lyles on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Monte Tredway on lead guitar and harmony vocals, Bruce Nystrom on bass guitar and harmony vocals and Jason Bagwell on drums.
Jamell Richardson “The Gulf Coast Blues Boy” will close out the 2016 edition of Music at Meyer Park on April 21. In 2014, he released is debut EP “Gulf Coast Blues Boy.” Music lovers may recognize Richardson from the 2015 Hangout Music Festival. He was selected as the winner of the “Reach the Beach” contest. Known for Jimi Hendrix style guitar tricks, “B.B. King-like” facial expressions and incredible stage presence this fiery yet classic style is sure to wow the crowd!
