Reconnecting Relationships Over Fine Food In Gulf Shores, Alabama

It is said that birds of a feather flock together. This is especially true when it comes to friends finding the ideal get away from life’s stressful moments. A weekend of fun in the sun along Alabama’s Gulf Coast is for anyone whether they have a pocket full of pennies or Franklins.

One place to reconnect with friends is The Original Oyster House. It is located at 701 Highway 59 at the Bayou Village in Gulf Shores. The restaurant is nestled along with shops overlooking the lagoon. The Gulf Shores location opened in 1983. It quickly became a local favorite, so a second location opened in 1985 on Battleship Parkway in Mobile.

It has something for everyone whether they are watching their waistline or their wallet. Lunch goers can choose from the soup and salad bar, fresh sandwiches or even design their own seafood platter. The lunch favorites include, Shrimp Au Gratin, Stuffed Flounder Florentine, plus daily specials which are served until 4 p.m.

For dinner, The Original Oyster House serves an array of homemade items including a Key Lime Pie that is absolutely divine. Evening diners can start with a signature appetizer of oysters on the half shell followed a house favorite like Stuffed Flounder, Josh’s Blackened Shrimp with creamy cheese grits or David’s Crabcakes and Grilled Shrimp Combo. The latter is two crabcakes topped with Remoulade sauce with succulent grilled shrimp and Hollandaise sauce. It will satisfy even the most discriminate of taste buds.

The Original Oyster House offers private party rooms, gift cards, and a child’s menu as well. Diners need not worry about dressing up to dine out. It has a casual dress code.
