The official start of spring is just around the corner along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. Already, vegetation is beginning to blossom while businesses in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores hustle to throw down their welcome mat for those heading to the shores for Spring Break.

One particular business stands out when it comes to adding spark to the spring breakers’ fun – The Hangout. It has a prime location right at the end of Highway 59 where it meets U.S. 182. You can’t miss the wooden tower which bears its name. Part of its appeal is the open air dining which over looks the Gulf of Mexico. It has 17 thousand square feet of fun for families and college students. The rustic complex is so centrally located, that many visitors can walk from their hotel or condo.

Parents can dine while watching their children play in a super large fenced-in sandbox, with real beach sand of course. College students enjoy the mingling, bars and live music each night. Several features welcome customers including a huge fire pit with ample seating, great gulf views and a wonderful menu which has something for everyone. Food choices range from oysters on the half shell to prime rib, poboys and vegetarian dishes. The children’s menu has a number of choice items sure to please any picky eater.

The Hangout has lined up an array of musical guest for Spring Break, 2010. During March, patrons can expect to enjoy live bands many nights of the week. The Hangout plans to jam the second weekend of March. Those days will be the final weekend of Spring Break for Georgia and Tennessee students, while the first weekend for Ole Miss and Miss State along with Alabama and Auburn students. On Friday, the 12th, three bands are booked, while the next night, four bands will play. You can check The Hangout’s website for more information on which bands will play, plus when they plan to take the stage.
