What creatures swim beneath the waters of Mobile Bay and in the rivers that feed our bay? What does a ray feel like? What hurdles do turtles face in their lives? Answers to these questions and many more are waiting to be discovered at the Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

Whether you take the waterway via the Mobile Bay Ferry or the roadway circling the bay, your next vacation on the Alabama Gulf Coast should include a trip to Dauphin Island to visit the fascinating sea life at the Estuarium.

Located on the eastern end of the island, the Estuarium is a delight for children and adults. It is filled with lessons about the fragile and vital ecosystem of our delta, bay and gulf. Exhibits include the opportunity to touch some of the animals. The boardwalk provides amazing views of the surrounding waters.

With so much to learn, it is only logical that so many area schools bring their students for field trips. The dedicated staff and volunteers are thrilled to impart the message of caring for our environment in hopes of building a new generation of advocates.
