Japanese Magnolias are blooming along the Alabama’s Gulf Coast right now. The large, pink blossoms usher in spring. The sun shines bright, the wind blows a little gentler and temperatures are perfect for Savvy Shoppers to don their sandals and hit our unique shops.
That’s right it’s time to gather your friends and head to the beach for a girls’ getaway. Alabama’s Gulf Coast has a plethora of great shops. In fact, I’ll bet there are more shops to see than time. So, if your closet is still missing that perfect pair of sandals, don’t fret. The Gulf Coast has more pairs to choose from than well… hairs on a dog. Just pace yourself and make it a trip to remember. But don’t forget, you can always come back to tackle the rest.
When you plan your shopping spree, be sure to stop for a good breakfast to help you keep your energy up. Whether it’s Island Pancake House, Daylight Donuts or Hazels, breakfast will get you off on the right foot.
Next, keep in mind your strategy. One place, Tanger Outlet, in Foley is an all day affair. Be sure to check the Coast360 Guide and Coast360.com for a coupon before you go! By the way, Starbuck’s has shop at Tanger, so a quick cup of java to keep you on your game is just a few steps away.
Other great places to shop are Pelican Place and Bayou Village in Gulf Shores and The Wharf in Orange Beach. Coast360.com has as an array of listings for great shopping experiences along Alabama’s Gulf Coast. So, bookmark our page, that way, you are always one step ahead when comes organizing your beach adventure.

Since the weather is warming and the sun is shining a little brighter, Savvy Shopper’s may want to check out Festivals happening across our area. One in particular is happening this weekend. The Orange Beach Festival of Arts will be held March 13th and 14th on Wolf Bay. At least 65 artists will set up their wares at Waterfront Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Festivals like this on attract hundreds of visitors.
Festival goers have a choice of art in various forms from paintings to pony tail holders. I have spotted artisans using melted bottles as cheese boards and cute wind chimes. Many craftsmen (and women) can turn what the general public tosses in the trash bin into wonderful art for homes and yards. It is great exercise and fun to mingle through dozens of booths to see an artist’s talent.
Other festivals happening this month are Fairhope’s Arts and Crafts Festival, March 19th, 20th and 21st, and Elberta’s Sausage Festival, March 27th. Both are just minutes from Alabama’s Gulf Coast. So, book your rooms now, enjoy the festivals then come home to the soothing waters of the Gulf.
