One of the best things about living on the island is that we are surrounded by some of the most creative and imaginative individuals anywhere! And it gets even better when the talented individuals care to “share the coolness” by opening a shop where one can enter, browse, and be mesmerized by the imagination of their own and others.

About 10 years ago, that’s exactly what creative couple Nancy Wright and Leigh Sullivan decided to do when they opened The Prosperous Pelican. Located right on Canal Road in the Lester’s Restaurant Plaza, The Prosperous Pelican is a soul’s delight, filled with fabulous and unique hand-painted jewelry, over 2000 pieces of art from local, regional and internationally published artists and more. Nothing mainstream or commonplace here! You’ll find unique furniture, metal art, prints, photography, and fantasy castings.  They specialize in New Orleans art and are an authorized dealer for Clay Planet Designs. And when you find just the right photograph, print or painting let the experts custom mat and frame it for you. How cool is that?!
