Rain Drops to Boondocks Tour

Tickets are on sale for the “Rain Drops to Boondocks” tour featuring world-class musicians B.J. Thomas and Billy Joe Royal in Gulf Shores, Feb. 27 and 28.

Who can forget the scene of Paul Newman as “Butch Cassidy” pedaling a bike with “Etta,” played by Katherine Ross, to the tune of “Rain Drops Keep Falling on My Head,” sung by B.J Thomas.

“Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid” went on to be a mega-hit and Thomas received an Oscar in recognition of his talents.

(Side note: Interestingly, Cloris Leachman played “Agnes” in the movie and will performing her own show in Gulf Shores, March 3 and 4.)

Thomas is identified with a variety of music hits recorded over four decades, including the million-selling "(Hey Won’t You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song," and his stylish cover version of Hank Williams’ "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry." Other hits include "I Just Can’t Help Believing," "Hooked on a Feeling," "Rock and Roll Lullaby," "No Love," "Everybody is Out of Town", "Mighty Clouds of Joy", the Beach Boys’ classic "Don’t Worry Baby," and the theme song from the long-running situation comedy "Growing Pains: As Long As We Got Each Other."

Another musical veteran of four decades, Billy Joe Royal is perhaps best remembered for his hit recording of "Down in the Boondocks." Other memorable records include "I Knew You When," "Cherry Hill Park," "Hush," and "Tell It Like It Is."

Put the two on stage and you have a fabulous evening of unforgettable songs.
