More than 90 men died aboard the USS Tecumseh defending Mobile Bay in 1864

Michael Bailey, cultural resource coordinator at Fort Morgan, said an exact list of USS Tecumseh crew members who died in the Battle of Mobile Bay has been difficult to officially compile. Many accounts give a total of 93 crew members.
Angela Dunnagan, who once lived on Fort Morgan road and now calls Illinios home, and her father, Richard Pugh of Gulf Shores, compiled this list of 91 USS Tecumseh crew members from several historical sources:
